Price check on amazing talent.
On Tuesday 10th of May, Sunsilk and Coles collaborated to stage the event "Aisle Avant Garde": a fashion show inside the Coles supermarket at Waterloo, using exclusively designed pieces by up-and-coming UTS student fashion designers. Excitingly, we knew one of these designers- the wonderful Kacey Devlin of our design and production team.
As a springboard for her Sunsilk design, Kacey staged an enquiry into the movement of hair through a series of observational films. Comprising two interlocking and interchangeable jackets, playfully layered over original- digitally printed undergarments, Kacey's look focused on movement and the body's interaction with its garments.
When we asked about her design, Kacey said she usually worked with a more neutral colour palette but saw the Sunsilk competition as "a unique and exciting opportunity to experiment with colour". Hand-dying her silk-wool blend Jacket in a poppy-Aqua hue, Devlin was inspired by leading hair expert Teddy Charles’ SunSilk Co-Creations Frizz Control with Aloe Vera Nutri Serum. For her second jacket, Devlin used the observational films to graph her subjects hair and its movement within the SunSilk logo; this resulted in a beautifully hand-illustrated, contemporary digital print in charcoal tones.Unfortunately Kacey didn't walk away with the $3K prize money- that was awarded to Caitlin Davies-Forsyth; however she did stay true to her original design philosophy- with quality, transformation and an underlying sense of individuality at the forefront... and for that, the ioco team is extra proud!

royally excited
royally excited
The ioco team is royally excited for Friday's big wedding. Between the usual ioco madness, there's been talk of dresses, royal jewels and veils- much to Davie's dismay! After much debate- we have all decided that this outfit would be worthy of a prince's attention. What would you be wearing at Westminster?

Just completed trade fairs
Since International One’s inception in 2006, we have been hitting the Trade Fair’s to exhibit our wares. Besides the fact that the Fairs are usually pretty good to us (did I mention we won Gift awards at Reed in 2007 and 2008?), it’s also a great time for us to get to know our customer a little better- through our very loyal and switched on retailers. All in all- stress aside, it’s a really fun week. We get to set up our own little ioco shop for the duration of the fair- and chat with those who actually sell our products in about how ioco designs are being received by you- the customer.
From Thursday 17th of February, we were at the Royal Hall of Industries at Life Instyle- a trade show which selectively showcases only the best in home, fashion, lifestyle and gift designs. The theme this year was “Love at First Site”; an apt choice considering the Fair opened the same week, as you guessed it- Valentine’s Day. And what a perfect theme for the launch of our new Ultimate Handbag Hooker! Oh yes, we saw you swooning over it! The Ultimate true love was born. The show was an amazing success with the Royal Hall absolutely brimming with beautifully designed products- ours included. The ioco stand was a visual feast for all, with new ioco branding and light boxes to present the new products. See for yourself below.
But in true ioco style, one Trade Fair just wasn’t enough- and so we set up shop at The Reed Gift Fair at Darling Harbour within the same week. ioco are old hands at Reed though- so were ready for the challenge. Over at Reed, it was great to catch up with some old friends- including Andrew and Bronnie from Nest Inspirations who’s new "Lily's Wish" line of hand creams and soaps have definitely climbed up our wish lists for Mother’s Day. See them here at www.nestinspirations.com.au
ioco also got a chance to chat with our old rep, Sue, who was busy spruiking her magical resin jewellery, Lalo. I’ll take ten, please.
While Nyree held down the fort at The Royal Hall, David was rocking his own pair of shoe clips at Reed like only David could. They certainly caught celebrity passer-by Olivia Newton John’s eye- who stopped by IOCO for a squiz at the new ‘Diamond & Pearl’ style and our Hot and Cold ‘Fill her Up’ Range. The ioco. team had trouble controlling our excitement- but managed to stay cool and not break out into the Grease Mega Mix (well, at least until after she left!).
Overall, the week of Life Instyle and Reed kept us all on our toes. Thanks to all who came to visit. After such a successful run at both Fairs- we’d like to raise a celebratory glass of bubbles to our previous customers who re-ordered, and excitingly let’s welcome our new ones too.
See you soon,
IOCO.

First real blog from ioco.
This is our first REAL blog entry. Out first EVER blog entry if we want to make it sound really good- which yes, we do.
Blogging is a strange thing. I mean, do people really want their diary read aloud for all to see? Well yes, apparently they do. As much as we denied and even tried to avoid the blogging craze, ioco. is growing- and with that, comes change. And so, as we have evolved from International One to ioco., we have also caved and joined the blogosphere.
Although reluctant at first, the prospect of blogging is quite an exciting one after the week we have had. Alongside making sure you guys were in the loop about the changes 2011 brings for ioco.; we managed to find time to launch our new Ultimate Hooker at Life in Style, swing by pop-up bar The Green House for drinks,

"For more info on the Greenhouse, please visit http://greenhousebyjoost.com/"
complete our first weekend at Reed Gift Fair and make some video tutorials on our newest products. Needless to say, it’s been a big week.
Essentially, we want this blog to give ioco. a voice. We want to keep you updated on the ins and outs of our design process, latest news and developments, special events (that ioco. is hosting and in our off time- hopefully attending), our design inspiration and no doubt, a little daydreaming too.
I’m not going to deny that jumping on the blogging bandwagon was daunting to begin with; but after the excitement of the weekend I can’t wait to tell you stories, show you pictures and over share- and hey, isn’t that what this blogging nonsense is all about? If so, I could definitely get used to it.
Watch this space.

The New Year
The New Year is an exciting time for all of us. For many it’s a time where resolutions are made: we “promise to lead a simpler and more fulfilling life”, and yes, we promise to improve ourselves. For International One, 2011 is less about resolutions and more about action. We are pleased to announce that International One is evolving and from now on will be known as IOCO.
IOCO will only showcase the best of International One design. We are streamlining our products, our website, and our overall design aesthetic- to make 2011 easier and more rewarding for everyone.
To kick off the New Year, we have invited a public relations representative to join the IOCO team which means you will be seeing a lot more of us as we go forward. We are relaunching our online store, introducing a VIP rewards system for our customers, revamping our social networking channels and excitingly- launching the IOCO blog (ahem, hello).
IOCO looks forward to seeing you in 2011- where we are all a better version of ourselves.
